Inside: Artangel project at Reading prison

Inside: Artangel project at Reading prison

17/10/2016

On until the end of October, this absorbing project is another triumph for Artangel and well worth the trip. Our visit lasted half a day (and that was without hearing the full live reading of Oscar Wilde’s De Profundis) Artists, writers and performers have produced work on the loss of liberty, shown in the cells, corridors and chapel within […]

The Other Art Fair at the Old Truman Brewery, London

10/10/2016

This post isn’t about the artists showing at The Other Art Fair, now partnered with saatchiart.com, as it was my first time exhibiting and I didn’t really have much chance to see any work apart from that of my immediate neighbours: artist and printer Lene Bladbjerg, screen printer Lucy Bainbridge and painter Emma Copley who were all great. My stand […]

Sculpture by Mel Fraser at Sheridan Russell Gallery, the Affordable Art Fair

03/10/2016

Yes, I know I’m obsessed by the circle in its multiple manifestations and here’s another example I found at the last Affordable Art Fair in Hampstead on the Sheridan Russell Gallery stand. Mel Fraser is a master of her craft and seemingly as comfortable in figurative as in abstract work: these simple alabaster pieces are […]

Jaanika Peerman at Draw to Perform – 2 of 2

26/09/2016

Jaanika Peerman’s second performance at Draw to Perform involved ice, another material that fascinates her. In this case, the melting block contributed to the dynamism of her mark making.  the drawn “icefall” stands in front of Saranjit Birdi, another artist who draws with different parts of his body: in this shot, one of his feet.

Jaanika Peerna at Draw to Perform – 1 of 2

19/09/2016

More photos from the Draw to Perform symposium, this time from Jaanika Peerna. She created 2 drawings on Mylar, and these images give a hint of the piece. Visualise constant movement  with gentle sound and a detail of the finished drawing. Visit her website to see a video of her in action.

Having my head scanned by the Veronica Scanner at the Royal Academy

12/09/2016

“I never liked being photographed…I don’t like the way I look in photographs because I don’t think I look that way…everyone knows what I looked like except me. And looking in a mirror didn’t help much…Now (with the Veronica Chorographic Scanner), at least I know what I look like” – Daniel Wolf. I’ve included this […]
