Please Fund Us… another crowdfunding group

11/05/2012

I hadn’t realised that there were more of these organisations around but then the principle is such a good idea…thanks Please Fund Us for following me on Twitter. I like the fact you can donate as little as a pound – times are tight for lots of people but it all adds up as these projects show. […]

Sponsume – crowdsource funding for creative projects

24/04/2012

Another great idea that I’ve come across and want to share. Sponsume help creative entrepreneurs fund a specific project by using social media to spread the word. You put money in and get something back from the creative: a perk or reward. Sponsume are enablers, not funders so all the money goes to the project. […]

British design – Re-worked with coffee

08/09/2011

As they say on their site, Re-worked is a non profit industrial design and product manufacturing company that invests in green technology and social enterprise. What caught my eye was their composite board made from recycled HIPS (high impact polystyrene)  and coffee grounds. All sourced and made in the UK, this material, Çurface, is water […]

Design a garden bollard?

23/08/2011

I spotted these last week, the first time I’ve seen “greened”  bollards on a main road. Painted and knitted yes, but not covered with plants.  This is an authorised intervention but I can see it developing into a guerilla gardening target. Any others spotted anywhere? Please send them in and I’ll include them.

Road sign in London – if only…

05/08/2011

I couldn’t resist photographing this the other day. Essex Road is very rich in roadside art. My apologies that it isn’t a great photo but this was just before one of the many downpours that lunchtime.

London’s Festival of Britain- the Lion and the Unicorn at the South Bank

23/06/2011

Wandering along London’s South Bank I came upon this emotionally moving piece. The Lion & the Unicorn is an installation created by designer Gitta Gschwendtner with young people from refugee groups in London. The original Lion and the Unicorn pavilion, at the 1951 Festival of Britain, housed a flight of ceramic birds symbolising freedom. This idea has […]
