British design – Re-worked with coffee

08/09/2011

As they say on their site, Re-worked is a non profit industrial design and product manufacturing company that invests in green technology and social enterprise.

What caught my eye was their composite board made from recycled HIPS (high impact polystyrene)  and coffee grounds. All sourced and made in the UK, this material, Çurface, is water resistant and scratches can be  easily scoured or sanded down. It may be used for furniture and interiors and has a lovely warm colour.

Here’s a picture of their homepage.

For what it’s worth I still use my grounds as a slug deterrent .
