Clerkenwell Design Festival at the Farmiloe Part 2 – pop up shops

01/06/2012

There was just too much to fit into 1 minute so here is a bit more… this time online shops and real shops had little pop-up stores so you could actually see product normally only viewed online. One such was Veja, showing their Brazilian organic cotton and leather trainers and accessories. Really cute with zingy colours. The Lollipop […]

Clerkenwell Design Festival at the Farmiloe Building – Part 1

29/05/2012

This is one of my highlights during the festival. I love seeing the mix of new, developing and established brands along with displays and site-specific installations. It was all here this time and so relaxed; maybe that was just my frame of mind! I was delighted to see Ian McIntyre’s ceramics with Another Country displaying new products (see my […]

Pantone adds 336 more colours

01/05/2012

Well this finally makes my Pantone colour fan completely out of date. I tend to end up with yarns, bits of fabric or paint to illustrate the exact colour I want when specifying and that’s hard when it needs replication. I’ll keep generating my colours but this should help others get closer to what I’m talking about!

New House Textiles

20/04/2012

If you’re looking for fresh Scandinavian and vintage-inspired prints then you could do worse than go to New House Textiles. I had thought they were a young company when I first came across them but was intrigued to learn that they have been around for almost a century, part of the UK’s manufacturing base. Yes, some […]

Graypants Lighting

17/04/2012

Graypants are based in Seattle but have international distribution so we can all enjoy these. They create lighting from unwanted materials including corrugated cardboard and tracing paper. As you know I love upcycled products where the design is the first thing noticed. These shades give out a wonderful light quality and you certainly won’t hurt your head if you bash into them – am […]

Royal Delft refreshed: the Blue D1653 collection

05/04/2012

It’s always interesting to see how a brand, established in 1653(!) refreshes itself to remain current. My parents had a couple of Royal Delft vases so I grew up appreciating that very particular shade of blue that typifies the company. Now, whilst I like blue on white, I don’t just want to buy historical pieces […]
