This event just keeps growing; I feel as if I’m looking at things non-stop – actually I am – and it carries on through till next week.
Wednesday night was the Designerblock private view and I spotted cabinet maker John Galvin‘s work from across the room. To begin with I wasn’t sure what this slab was; perhaps a tabletop resting against the wall due to lack of space? Then I saw this.
It’ s a headboard with secret drawers! There is another one but I won’t give the game away here.
John then showed me his chair featured in Wallpaper* He’s rightly proud that there isn’t a right-angle in the whole piece. He’s been producing furniture for over 10 years – you can see immediately that he knows and loves wood in its many guises. Even the “repairs” are beautiful and caressable.
