Here are a couple of new materials as seen at the Surface Design Show earlier this year. It’s still early stages but they are already in use in commercial contexts. The the selection was curated by Dr Sascha Peters of Haute Innovation in Germany.
Blingcrete is a light reflecting concrete, produced by construction company Hering Bau International which specialises in the production of prefabrication and high quality concrete surfaces. This would be great as wall panels to catch the light on corner buildings.
Makrolan Ambient is a transparent silica aerogel which has very high insulation properties as well as transparency and UV filtering so ideal for roof and panel glazing. The combination of both light and thermal retention are qualities we need in this country. My photo was very boring so the one above is from their website.
