The Highlands and Islands have been on my list of places to visit for a very long time – so close yet a world away from London. It was therefore a joy to see the work of designers based there showing at Craft. Here are 3 companies I particularly noted:
Diggory Brown make kilts, both traditional and fashion including some for Christopher Kane. They look so cosy as well as stylish, using local Harris tweed, one of the textile prides of the UK.
Eileen Gatt produces perfectly finished pieces with animals inspired by local folklore
whilst Gilly Langton’s richly coloured braided work is voluptuous. What a feast for the senses!
NB. All photos are from the makers’ websites.
