Graham Hollick and Karen Sear Shimali of Stitch By Stitch showed at Maison & Objet for the first time last month and were very happy with the response to their new collection of Kala towels and blankets when I saw them.
Stitch by Stitch specialises in textile products from South Asia which are ethically sourced and produced by local artisans, combining their traditional skills with design that appeals to the western eye.The towels are produced from locally grown Kala organic cotton which requires much less water than the more common standard variety and no chemicals so is ideally suited to the arid Kutch region in India. They’re super-absorbent and fast-drying too.
I love the irregular take-up of dye in the yarn for these blankets as well as the hand-wound tassles.
