I was surprised and delighted to receive news of this project by Travelodge of all people. Carl Marshall of Marshall Nightsky ceilings was commissioned to paint a room in 12 Travelodges around the UK.
The hotel chain conducted a survey to find what Britons preferred as their sleeping location and under a star-filled sky is apparently the favourite scenario. As a result of these findings they decided to offer such an experience in one of their rooms. Yes, every star is painted by hand under ultraviolet light: it’s the only way Carl & his team can see what they’re doing.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: creative thinking and differentiation are essential to the success of any business, particularly in the current economic climate.
