If you’re interested in architecture then you’ll enjoy the atrium at the ME by Melia hotel in Aldwych, London. They have a light show there every evening at 8pm but, to be honest, it’s worth a visit at any time. Running from the first floor up through the entire building to the Radio Bar on the roof, it’s a dramatic intervention.
The corridors on each guestroom floor are faced with black marble so you’re aware of the structure even on the other side. I kept thinking of the film, “High Rise”, by Ben Wheatley.
It’s all black and white and very architectural, just what you’d expect from Foster & Partners.
At the top, just along from the Radio Rooftop Bar, is the Suite ME, both with quite amazing views of central London, appreciated even by a vertigo sufferer like me.
