The resonances between Kiran Ravilious‘s prints and the work of Eric Ravilous were clear to me when I first saw her work and I was really surprised to learn that she had never heard of one of the 20th century’s greatest illustrators when she first began designing.
Maybe her marriage to his grandson was fated. However it happened, something was definitely in the ether. Her blend of imagery line and colour from a range of cultures works well in repeat available on both fabric and paper.
My photos were once more affected by those pesky standard exhibition lighting levels. Please visit her website to get a much better idea of colour.
