A really good idea at New Designers

19/07/2011

It isn’t that often that I’m stopped in my tracks but this is a case in point. It is particularly apt given the latest news of mass human suffering: the Horn of Africa famine.

This stove, shown by Emily Ditton ,  has been designed specifically for production and use in refugee camps. The materials are cheap and readily available, the construction technique requires only basic equipment and the stove uses the bare minimum of fuel.

For more information on this please visit her website. I don’t know if it’s an open source project but all the details are there.

I hope she’s contacted the NGOs as it’s such a good idea.
