Royal College of Art Graduate Shows Part 3

18/07/2011

I’m so sorry about the delay – I’ve been offline for 10 days so lots of catching up to do!

This will have to be the last one although there were plenty more students producing memorable work.  I’m looking at glass and jewellery here.

Louis Thompson‘s glass containers have echoes of Steffen Damm.  Louis’ elements are based on the double helix of  DNA creating a different kind of apothecary.

These large  containers – I hesitate to call them vases are similarly impressive.

David Roux-Fouillet produced his  Rivière de Diamants necklace for Harry Winston and deservedly won the Conran Award.

You can see from this that the rotating necklace goes through the soap solution with gems formed on the steel framework from bubbles.

Chriystalla Achilleos must be so tired of people commenting on her name: yes, she works in glass. One of our NEWH awardees this year, she produces drawings in glass for screens and also etched panels. For her show she made this delightful corner piece of mouth-blown and coloured glass.
