rAndom International’s Rain Room still on at the Barbican

15/01/2013

I’m a big fan of rAndom International and have featured them here several times. I do, however, everything I can to avoid queueing so waited until now to experience this at the Barbican. The general queues are still long but I made the most of the members’ event to get in straight away.

There is a real feeling of anticipation hearing the growing sound of rain then the shadow of falling water is visible before coming to the installation itself. Quite magical.

Slow movement activates the dry zones as you can see in my photo above. Fast movement doesn’t trigger anything making the temptation to fox it too great. I ran through on the last bit and sure enough got very wet.
