Well, Hugh Leader Williams, another Loughborough graduate, is really getting into his stride now after winning 3 awards at New Designers last year. His asymmetrical base flat pack tables and stools will soon be available to order from Made.com and he’s now looking at lighting.
These nomadic lamps with leather-covered charger bases by Katharina Eisenköck , graduate from Central St Martins, won us over. Not only practical but sensually satisfying. Her emphasis on craftsmanship and materials enables the technology to be enjoyed with a strong human element. The lamps charge up in 6 hours from the base and battery life is about 8-9 hours.
I like the handle’s silhouette of a lampshade seen below.
Work like this makes me optimistic about our product design future.
