The Sleep Event includes an exhibition, conference, the Sleepotel and European Hotel Awards and is the international hospitality design and development event of the year. The NEWH (networking in hospitality), of which I am the Sustainability Director, has over the past few years been able to showcase the work of current scholarship awardees at the exhibition, giving them the unique opportunity to meet developers, operators, designers, architects and manufacturers active in the industry.
Here are this year’s winners.
Camille Flammarion trained as an architect which, I think, shows in her modular ceramic elements for dividers, furniture and storage.
Sarah Hurtigkarl’s cutlery has been shown, post NEWH scholarship, at Mint and the V&A during the London Design Festival.
Elizabeth Kyle Scorgie creates hardworking textiles and rugs using a mix of materials including horsehair.
