New Designers is always an assault on the senses in the nicest way: making some sense of it is the challenge as there is simply so much to look at. Part 1 focuses on textiles, fashion, ceramics, jewellery and silversmithing.
This year I found myself drawn to quiet work amongst the noisy throng. Here is some of the textile work I noticed.
Precise and rigorous pieces by Emma McMinn
A calm and beautifully crafted home collection by Rebecca Chew, both students from the University of Huddersfield
A very impressively conceived collection and display by Judy Scott – already open for business. Judy is from Duncan & Jordanstone College of Art which delivers great work every year.
Delicately drawn and coloured prints by Karen Lowes from Swansea Metropolitan University as is
Malin-Charlotte Ødemark who will develop her interpretation of memory and traces of time further in her MA at Edinburgh.
