My pile of interesting things and people, particularly makers, is growing at a frightening pace so I’ve decided this time to group a few makers together by material. It isn’t exhaustive by any means, more of a quick sheep dip of companies using wool as one of the elements in their product mix so here goes. All photos here are from their websites as it wasn’t possible to take photos at the time.
Sasha Gibb, former retail editor of World of Interiors, is now an interiors consultant which, as I well know, covers a wide range of skills. I was impressed when I saw her simple yet very seductive range of plain dyed woollen blankets.
If you’re ever in the Isle of Mull then you must visit Ardalanish mill and farm as they weave up local wool from their own herd of Hebridean sheep producing natural colours as well as organically dyed ones.
Woodchild knit soft blankets, ostensibly for children; the striped ones are also lovely as throws. They’re based in Scotland too.
I think I’ve hit my minute here so will stop for now but please send me any more suggestions you may have. I’m always ready to spread the word!
