Geoffrey Preston is one of the UK’s foremost architectural sculptors whose skills are used in restoration as well as for new projects. Lines of Beauty is an exhibition of his work, including his restoration of the Rococo plaster ceilings at Uppark House for the National Trust as shown below.
I came across this exhibition when visiting the Foundling Museum. The magnificent Rococo ceiling created and donated by Georgian craftsman William Wilton, adorns the Court room where the decisions were made over which children would be accepted.
No photographs were permitted so all images apart from the one of the Court Room above are from Geoffrey Preston’s website. Detail of Ottobueren Abbey vault ceiling.
The ceiling at Great Fulford. The exhibition is on at the Foundling Museum till 6th September.
