Aah, the V & A really is one of my favourite museums. Its latest exhibition Hollywood Costume has already proven to be a blockbuster so catch it if you can before the end of January. Give yourself enough time though – it took us over 2 hours get around and we weren’t dawdling.
I particularly enjoyed reading about the research and collaboration involved as it is so integral to the final product. The curators have overcome the challenge of displaying a static item only meant to be seen in movement by including film clips, sketches and character descriptions alongside the outfits.
I also like the fact that the show appeals on various levels and, as it’s the history of Hollywood, there is an inevitable glamour to the whole thing.
