One of my favourite cultural venues in London, the Barbican recently launched Digital Futures, an exhibition of the creative developments in digital technology through the work of artists, filmmakers, architects, designers, musicians and game developers pushing the technology.
Some exhibits are interactive such as Together by Universal Everything, encouraging the audience to create short animated loops through an app which is then uploaded for general view after 48 hours. The Petting Zoo by Minimaforms looks at artificial intelligence with the engaging “pets” responding to human activity around them.
Aether, a technological garment from The Unseen, reacts to atmospheric pressure, temperature & light information relayed from satellites by changing colour.
Kinisi, by Katia Vega, uses fake eyelashes, eyeliner and other technological beauty products to activate LEDs by blinking.
The Parametric Sculpture dress by Studio XO, printed by the largest 3D printer in the world and created for Lady Gaga, is also on show.
