Claire Burke’s abstracts invite you to pause and take time. Her minimalist yet lush panels of gold and silver leaf on gesso shimmer and glow; I literally felt my shoulders drop as I contemplated them.
The cubes are a recent development and very satisfying to hold. I’d like to see them even bigger.
She keeps the London studio for meetings and events such as the recent Open Wimbledon Art Studios where I took these photos.The making, however, now takes place in a much bigger and lighter purpose-built studio near her home in Surrey. Below is an image from her site showing it in full use even before the final coat of paint.
