A friend suggested we go along to Rook and Raven and I’m glad he did. It’s refreshing to see common themes explored by artists from different background disciplines displayed together, something I understand the gallery is keen to promote.
Vanessa Jackson’s canvases require repeated viewing for their layers to be revealed.
Vanessa Hodgkinson showed Printer Paintings, small intimate pieces which reminded me of drafting for a dobby loom as well as laser printing and mathematical equations.
Rupert Newman had both paintings
and a light and sound installation with music by Sarah Warne. Having seen it in a small space I really wanted to experience this in a club on a massive scale.
