London Print Fair at the Royal Academy – part 2 of 2

02/06/2017

Some fairs offer a great deal in terms of learning opportunities and this was one of them. I love the fact that this exquisitely drawn and detailed print by Hugo Wilson at Pratt Contemporary is contemporary. The title “Goodbye to Monkeys” is so apt for the expression on the creature’s face. A completely different approach is […]

London Print Fair at the Royal Academy – part 1 of 2

29/05/2017

The London Print Fair takes place at the Royal Academy in London every year and is always worth a visit for either buying or browsing. Here are a few of the pieces that stood out for me this time. If you’re over 50 years old this may remind you of your youth: “Unknown Pleasures” a […]

Korean Craft & Design Foundation KCDF at Collect

18/04/2017

Korean craftsmanship is deservedly famous throughout the world and you can see why from some of the ceramics shown on the Korean Craft & Design Foundation stand at Collect, the annual international makers’ show in London. Lee Jong-Min can produce no more than 10-12 of these delicate pieces per year. To be honest that sounds like a lot […]

10/04/2017

These small, intimate portraits by Nathan Ford and shown by Beaux Arts in Bath stood out from the visual noise. Apologies for the white dashes of strip lighting reflected in the glass frames. I also enjoyed seeing new smaller work by Robinson & McMahon on the One Church Street stand.

Art at The Affordable Art Fair – Battersea – 1 of 2

03/04/2017

There’s always something to discover at the Affordable Art Fair with the Battersea show no exception. Regular exhibitor FOUR_WALLS showed work by Sam Lock which stopped me in my tracks. Working on both paper and canvas his paintings are so evocative. Harriet Hoult’s paintings at ArtDog were very different with a kind of focused meandering.

Silver from Bishopsland at Collect, the Saatchi Gallery.

27/03/2017

Bishopsland Educational Trust provides silversmiths with an opportunity to develop their practice with their post graduate residential course. The resulting work is always worth seeing and this time included necklaces by  Lucie Gledhill and this silver wire piece by Nan Nan Liu.Some of my work includes silver leaf gilding and I’m currently experimenting with the […]
