Looking at the photos I took at The Affordable Art Fair in Hampstead, I couldn’t help but notice that they were all “quiet” pieces. Was it because I was very tired that day? Maybe I just needed to look at something soothing.
Anyway, this doesn’t detract from the quality of the work.
Cameron Contemporary Art showed these spare, almost ethereal still lives by Harriet Porter . I loved the simplicity and quietness of them.
I’m not a massive fan of animal pictures but, if I had a pet and wanted a portrait, Heidi Wickham, represented by Doorway Gallery is probably the artist I’d go to.
Obsidian Art showed these Asian-inflected woodblock print landscapes by Laura Boswell whose residencies in Japan have honed her eye in the evocation of space.
This abstract painting by Hannah Ludnow at Columbia Road Gallery also has a calm and warmth to it.
