In this second post I continue my highly personal selection from some of the galleries at the London Art Fair.
I make a point of always looking at the art first, only reading labels afterwards. It means I avoid the unconscious prejudice that can happen and provides the odd surprise as mentioned in my previous post.
The painting above of 2 doorways is by Paul Feiler, whose abstracts I have featured in an earlier post. It’s another mid-century piece exhibited by Austin/Desmond
In contrast this photographic work by Patricio Reig was on the Pigment Gallery stand.
Then a steel sculpture by Kit Line, more lyrical than his other work and shown by 155A Gallery.
Part of a series called Dinner Party Guests, this monotype by Rae Birch Carter was also shown by 155A Gallery. I’d go for a set of about 9 if I had the choice.
An oil painting by Adam Taylor on the &gallery stand contrasts with
Louisa Boyd‘s etching at April Gallery.
The speed and energy of this pastel drawing by Joan Eardley at Castlegate House Gallery jumps off the paper.
There’s a poignancy to this painting by Keith Vaughan at Osborne Samuel – I returned to it a couple of times.
I love life drawing, particularly of men, and this charcoal study by John R Grabach seen at Henry Miller Fine Art reminded me of one I made a couple of years ago. Please message me direct if you’d like to see a photo of it.
