Helaina Sharpley’s wire drawing

I’m a bit of a sucker for drawing with wire as I’ve used the technique myself in mixed media pieces. The appeal of three dimensionality and shadowplay can never truly be captured in a photo but these should give you an idea.

I saw Helaina’s work at Made London where her trees caught my eye. It was only later that I learned of the tea connection; this woman is obsessed with anything even vaguely linked to the drink and has settled on Edwardian times as her perfect tea-drinking era.

Here is an image from her site giving some indication of construction. All pieces are produced from line drawings and you can see the close connection between the two very clearly.
