I find myself returning to ceramics on a regular basis. Perhaps it is the elemental nature of clay and fire? Whatever it is I’m often drawn to the combination of function and aesthetics which I was pleased to learn are the two pillars of David Worsley’s philosophy.
His pieces under the name of Dove Street, which I first noticed at Made London, combine glazed and rawer biscuit finishes as you can see in the photo above.
His first workshop was in a disused shop in Shipley as part of a scheme to reinvigorate the town centre. As it was a temporary set-up he’s now just moved to a permanent space in a studio complex. I think the town centre will regret his departure but it’ll work better for him and he’s also with other creative people which can really help when you work alone.
