This show is very useful to see what the latest developments are in the world of commercial lighting.
We know that LEDs rule; what is interesting now is the range of low-energy lighting available and by that I mean the different colours of light. Toshiba had an interesting stand with little cubby holes of warmer or cooler light, all low voltage.
Washes of light in different colours over differently textured surfaces were another aspect shown: very effective for feature walls in public spaces and exteriors. Wonderful for those office lobbies that are so boring after dark.
In terms of actual lamps, I loved the purity of Lightyears’ collection of pendant lighting. www.lightyears.dk
Here are a couple from the collection.
Crystals were in evidence from several companies: Windfall from Germany www.windfall-gmbh.com showed a classical crystal chandelier idea with a contemporary twist. The candles float suspended in the shape of a chandelier.
