My visit to the London Art Fair was brief this year as my energy levels are still low but I was so pleased to have made it.
One of the highlights for me was Encounters, a section of small and new galleries.
April Contemporary , one of these, presented YOU ARE HERE 510’30 36″ N 00 0′ 5″ W with work by 2 artists: Luqmaan Godfrey (an alter ego of Damilola Odusote) and Louisa Boyd, who I have featured in the past.
She presented cartographic inspired prints alongside her exquisite paper polyhedrons
Small framed images surrounded Luqmaan Godfrey’s large circular collaged drawing, connecting with various events and locations from his past growing up as a black child in a very white part of Essex.
Whilst their styles are very different, both share a concern with place. I appreciated the level of craftsmanship in their work and the clarity of presentation.
