As you know, I keep an eye out for anything interesting to share so I couldn’t resist this one from Moe Beitiks. OK, I know we can view it as a bigger problem in Asia than here but it still relates to us.
This 5m high tree, displayed in Shanghai, was made out of 30,000 used (but clean) disposable chopsticks to highlight the problem. According to some activists, there is only enough tree stock in China to support the current level of disposible chopstick consumption for 20 years. What a terrifying thought!
This debate opens up a whole new market in re-useable chopsticks: cost effective bespoke sets could be a whole new trend.
