I popped in to the Royal Academy during Spring half-term and discovered this in the courtyard.
The Moon Palace is a former school bus converted into a fully functioning observatory for budding scientists of all ages. It was created for the East Leeds Project by artists Heather Peak and Ivan Morison in partnership with the School of Physics and Astronomy at Leeds University and Leeds Astronomical Society.
A venue for discussions about our place in the cosmos and obviously star-gazing at night, you can sit with a cup of Cosmic Tea from hand made mugs stored on the shelf,
enjoy the ceramic lamps inspired by moonscapes
and see what’s above us on screens and maps.
Blankets, woolly hats and slippers are available for cold night viewing.
The Moon Palace is available to hire with an onboard artist and scientist – click here for more details.
