As a vertigo sufferer I was a little ambivalent about going up to the top of the Shard, currently the tallest building in Europe but “feel the fear and do it anyway” is one of my mantras so off I went. The day was grey but cold and, more importantly, clear.
The 360 degree views are remarkable; it is strange to be able to see beyond the edge of London to the North Downs. Not as strange however, as to reach the 70th floor and see 2 windowcleaners above us swaying from cables outside to the ethereal accompaniment of a choir.
