As it had only recently opened to the public back in early May, I wanted to visit Hudson’s Yard to see what all the fuss was about. Well, firstly it’s a huge corporate development with The Vessel designed by Thomas Heatherwick Studio (which isn’t small) dwarfed by the buildings around it.
I liked the reflections in neighbouring buildings
and the bollards were lovely.
This view reminds me of a woodlouse (in a good way)
The Shed , a new cultural venue by Highline architects Diller Scofidio + Renfro wasn’t yet open
but you can see the tensile fabric covering
and these impressive massive opening and closing wheels on their track.
I peeked in to see teams preparing for the first presentation – some of the seats were still covered in plastic.
Then back to street level and what felt like normality. It’ll be interesting to see how this area develops over time, hopefully to become a more inclusive place than it currently is.
