The Beaumont Hotel, in London’s Mayfair, designed by specialist hotel architects ReardonSmith Architects, is another of London’s five star hotels but the only one to boast of a public art work doubling as a bedroom, Room, by Anthony Gormley.
That’s been covered in lots of places and my photos taken inside were too dark to mean anything so I’ll show you the more recently opened spa, designed by Richmond International instead which is a visual delight.The first thing you see on entry is a chrome trolley laden with towels and water, truly welcoming.
It’s a small space which, while very compact never feels cramped, due to good space planning and ample use of reflective surfaces, good lighting & mirrors.
The mirrored glass box of a barbershop is appointment only.
They’ve managed to fit in a steam room, sauna and this plunge pool, like descending into the sea from a platform – it was only missing a mask & flippers.
The hammam does have echoes of a mortuary slab but, that tiny niggle apart, the space is a joy.
.I’ve never been in a spa that has a mouthwash dispenser – that really impressed me!
I have no idea of the rates but it’s open to non-residents so well-worth a visit. Just call them for details.
