This, the newest InterContinental Hotel in London, opened recently in the politician’s part of London, close to the Houses of Parliament. It’s very competent-looking and geared to business with a lively early-evening bar. (no photos of that I’m afraid as it was way too dark).
The design makes reference to both politics and the police as New Scotland Yard is also just around the corner. Note the “fingerprint” carpet and the surveillance-type large mirror opposite the bed which houses the TV (and what else, I wonder?).
The rooms are quite compact so everything you need is within easy reach. Wi-fi is, thank goodness, free; I really don’t know how hotels these days can justify charging.
The service levels still need work – my impression was of inexperience (our issue eventually got sorted out with a little assertiveness from our party). I was surprised to see that life had stopped by 8.30 pm when I took this photo of the tea lobby: had they all gone back to the House?
