I stayed at the Berner’s Hotel on a school trip to London decades ago and remember it as a massive institutional building that had definitely seen better days.
How things have changed! The Schrager magic has now been applied to this grand building, at its best in the public spaces, particularly the lobby and this gorgeous dining room, seen here during the day. Spot the image used on the menu when you go – yes, it is on the wall. The atmosphere changes drastically in the upstairs corridors though which are reminiscent of an underground car park. The rooms are thankfully less austere: more in keeping with the concept of spending time socially in the public areas. This is one of the light and airy corner suites. In conclusion a great addition to London for socialising. The Edition is the place to be out and about, not one for holing up and hiding away.
