Still at Les Archives de France but on to the museum itself. Seeing the originals of so many incredibly significant documents made my head spin.
The only drawing of Joan of Arc? (photo above). It’s perhaps just the idea of her – we will never know.
The Edict of Nantes below;
Marie Antoinette’s last letter before the guillotine;
Louis XIV’s will written in his own hand;
Love letter from Napoleon to Josephine, “Je t’embrasse partout, partout”
and less romantically the codicil to his last will from St. Helena
And on it goes, only a tiny amount of what is in the archives.
Highly recommended for any visit to Paris.
