Every time I visit La Sainte Chapelle in Paris I am staggered by the craftsmanship required in its creation and the sheer intensity of the experience.
Hidden away behind the Palais de Justice and up a narrow stone staircase you arrive to this 13th Century marvel.

Turn around and this is the other view that greets you. I’m dumbstruck every time.

Fifteen main windows are composed of multiple insets, each one telling a story from old and new testaments: 1,113 in all and read from the bottom up boustrophedon style (left to right then right to left & so on) .

The stained glass is only the most dramatic element as every surface is covered with decoration. Listening to a concert here must be quite something.
