La Bourse de Commerce, an iconic building redeveloped to house François Pinault’s art collection is suitably impressive. Even if you’re not interested in art it is worth visiting for the architectural transformation by Japanese architect Tadao Ando.
I overcame my vertigo to climb up to the top this first visit and recommend it to get an idea of scale. It’s very big.
Some of the artistic interventions worked really well including these slightly disconcerting pigeons by Maurizio Cattelan
and the animatronic stuttering mouse by Ryan Gander found low down near the book shop.
Exhibition programming varies so there should always be something new to see.
Don’t miss out on the double helix staircase, originally designed for corn-carrying labourers to climb from floor to floor without the risk of bumping into one another.
