You know all those little terraced houses we walk past? The ones that look the same throughout the street?
Well, Open House lets us visit buildings of all types in London including private houses. I always volunteer to help over the September weekend as enjoy spending a few hours in places I would never normally visit. This time I was in this house recently refurbished by Unagru Architecture.
Initially a very banal and quite dark interior, Davide di Martino and his team gutted and transformed it into a beautifully light and practical home for the owner, a cellist and scientist.
The client wanted a light and flexible space to rehearse and relax; the circular skylight allows light into the existing extension, balancing the living area.
And there is loads of built-in storage space all over the house.
