I was so lucky to be offered a ticket to the Chelsea Flower Show this year but was only able to spend 1 1/2 hours there, enough though to get an overview.
Dan Pearson’s garden inspired by the outer cultivated landscape of Chatsworth was quite remarkable – look at the moss and weeds on this rock below – it looked like a chunk of nature rather than a meticulously constructed environment.
I also appreciated the fact that he never once said “I” when interviewed about this project – it was all “we”, a true reflection of the teamwork that must have gone into producing this wonder.
It’s so atmospheric that it was a bit of a blow to draw back and see boxes of information packs on the path. Looking back I’m surprised I managed to get this shot without anyone being in the way as it was pretty busy, even on the Tuesday.
The garden will be rebuilt back at Chatsworth after the show so will have a life beyond this intense display period.
