Visible Traces at Frameless Gallery 1 of 2

18/04/2016

I never miss an exhibition curated by Joanna Bryant and Julian Page as, apart from invariably seeing good work, I always learn something new.

Jayne Wilton’s explorations around the visibility of breath: inhalation and exhalation have been featured here before. Here the emphasis is on the inhaling of air, developed in glass.

Robinson & McMahon’s painterly concerns are developed by both on a single canvas.  As stated by the gallery “Their paintings exist because of the other; not necessarily bearing equal marks, but coming to a compromise, a resolution to find a kind of harmony.” Learning about the sometimes violent disagreements during creation interested me as I see a delicate balance and yes, resolution in the finished work.
