The big change for me upon visiting the restored Tate Britain was the quality of light. It hits you as soon as you walk in due, in large part, to the rotunda under which is the beautifully detailed spiralling staircase.
The members room is now finally in a proper space – I actively looking forward to using it now whereas before it felt like an afterthought (which I know it was).
Alison Wilding’s sculpture, on display in the Duveen Galleries till 9th February, also benefits from the constantly changing natural light. I love the fact that Largo, in the foreground below is placed off-centre, giving Locust, on the right, space to be.
