Tacita Dean at Tate Modern

03/01/2012

Go to the Turbine Hall at Tate Modern if you have the chance as this needs to be seen close-up as well as from a distance.

A huge screen runs the full height of the hall with a short film (11 minutes) of hand spliced and edited images. No digitalisation to be seen in this celebration of analogue film where Tacita Dean glories in the qualities of a much-loved yet disappearing medium. Walk right up to the screen and see that everything is in motion, even the holes at the reel edges. Quite magical.
