This was a small show for limited edition and one-off pieces of furniture and lighting from a selection of galleries, organised by The Apartment gallery. As one visitor said, it appeals to a very particular type of person. In terms of buyers I agree but believe that many can appreciate the beauty and skill of the work displayed.
Here are a couple of pieces I particularly liked. There were plenty more but not enough space here to show them all.
Sunshare by Emmanuel Babled: lasercut carrara marble.
TST Lamp by Michael Young: paper with aluminium frame.
These pieces require intense work and expensive technology hence their high prices but they need to be seen and enjoyed by a wider audience than at present. Copying is a problem as for any expression of creativity be it design, music or literature and is something creatives face on a daily basis. I was asked by one gallery not to take photos due to this problem and duly deleted the image I had taken for this blog.
I agree that ideas should be valued, hence this blog which shows you a tiny amount of what I search out.
