This exhibition of paintings by UK-based Iranian artist Soheila Sokhanvari celebrates and commemorates inspirational creative Iranian women.
She uses the painstaking medium of egg tempera and traditional miniature painting techniques for these portraits.
The installation in The Barbican Curve is quite wonderful, an immersive environment in which to view these small, highly detailed paintings.
Performing in public has been prohibited in Iran for women since the 1979 revolution. It was controversial before then but possible so you had to be pretty brave to flout convention. These women had the courage to do just that.
Once the revolution took place the 28 women represented here were forced to choose between ending their public careers or leaving the country.
The show is free to visit and on till 26th February.
