New Designers already feels like the dim & distant past but not so! Here are some more photos of work which caught my attention.
Integrating handmade silverware with everyday mass-produced items for the table, Glasgow graduate Kathleen Reilly ennobles the mundane with her work thus elevating the dining experience. I can see these appearing on wedding lists all over the place. In contrast this etched jewellery by Dearbhaile McDonald of NCAD has a story, each piece representing a field from her family’s farm.
I appreciated this necklace by Amy Stringer from Sheffield Hallam which brings to mind shattered reinforced concrete. I didn’t find out if it weighs as much as it seems to. That in itself add to the symbolism.
