I was very grateful that the gallerist Akié Arichi let me take these quick photos before the private view of this exhibition when I came across it on a recent trip to Paris.
L’Ecriture et la Peinture is a pairing of two very different artists who both use ink, acrylic and paper.
Serge Saunière‘s work conveys the feeling of landscape and dance in abstract paintings.
Apologies for the reflections – many works were behind glass.
These contrast with Jean-Pierre Bréchet who uses repetitive mark-making with collage and text creating a meditation on connections, the patterning of warp and weft in language.
Both artists’ work responds to slow viewing. The longer you look, the more you notice. They require us to take time, to stop and reflect, something I aim for in my work.
