Having worked with this gallery before it became Fiumano Clase I’m always interested to see their shows and this recent one showing work by Nicole Wassall didn’t disappoint.

The different meanings of mettle and metal are explored and the depth of Nicole’s research, combined with the technical beauty of execution produced an impressive body of work with multiple layers of interpretation.

I particularly appreciated the piece above and below, My Tree is not your Tree, where the shadow of a branch and labels printed with human character traits creates the form of a heart.
Another theme explored was that of the suffragettes, these brass two-pence coins honouring the direct action taken over 100 years ago.
